I'm afraid to let you close,

Because last time went so wrong,

And I know it's been a while,

But for my heart it hasn't felt long,

I want to tell you how I feel,

But I know how it will end,

So for now I'll just act differently,

And I'm sorry I have to pretend,

But you're not making it easy,

I'm terrified of being hurt like that,

It happened once and it can happen again,

I just don't want to be a door mat,

I don't want to let you walk all over me,

That's why I'm hiding from you,

Because it's my fear I don't want you to see,
