In That Darkness
I loved him from the first
Moment I saw him,
Though I do not blame
Him for falling for me
When he did.
He wanted me
At the end of autumn,
At the start of winter,
Thatβs when men
Need lovers to keep them
Warm through the night
And snatch their mind
From the dark and cold.
Which I believe I did well
For a time until the spring
Came and he did not need
To be kept warm anymore
And so we didnβt not speak
Again and I tried not to miss
Him.
It was in that same darkness
That I found you, my friend.
I found you in the corner
In a pen and notebook
And in my mind,
My ideas began to flow
And I wrote of good
And of evil and of love
And of hate and I was
Happy.
I am happy now.
Also, in that darkness
He found her and he,
I believe, is happy now.
He is happy.
I am happy.
We are happy.
But not with each other.
