Never Marry a Writer
I write this as a warning;
Never marry a writer or a poet,
For we are cheats,
Liars and vagabonds,
Who will never think as others,
Think and shall certainly never,
Make a prosperous living,
And settle in suburbia,
With netty curtains and a driveway,
And a clean green lawn too,
Neat to step on,
We shall frequent all sorts of establishments,
From basement bars and comedy clubs,
To late night squares and beer halls,
And love and kiss and dream,
The lusting night away,
So,
I warn you,
For your own good,
Never ever marry a writer,
Or a poet,
For you will never,
Understand a word we say
